Management options for seizures – from the acute to the chronic
The violent and unpredictable nature of seizures can be overwhelming and distressing for owners of affected animals. It is therefore important to build a strong relationship with your client that is based on mutual respect. Although only a handful of antiepileptic drugs are available for veterinary use, it is important to be familiar with their indications, use and limitations. During this session, we will discuss common problems and practical approaches for the management of seizures. More specifically, we will discuss when to start treatment, how to evaluate treatment, how to treat cluster seizures, and when to add an additional anti-epileptic drug.
