24 Oct 2025
Veterinary Insights Theatre
Pain Management

In the past few decades, the science of the assessment of acute Feline pain has improved dramatically. Assessing chronic pain, for example in cats with cancer, remains a challenge given the array of oncological diseases, individual behaviours, and owner's definition of the cat's quality of life. This section provides not just an overview of the well established pain scales, but real life examples and practical tips on assessing cats with acute and chronic pain, with a special emphasis on cats with cancer.

  • Broaden your understanding of different acute and chronic pain scales in cats.
  • Develop an appreciation of cancer pain in cats and the array of potential pain behaviours unique to cats
  • Learn about real life cases of pain management and 'how to' practical applications of pain assessment strategies in cats
