Principles of traumatic and surgical wound management and reconstruction

Reconstructive procedures do not need to be carried out on an emergency basis so there is time to consider the options. Understanding the stages of wound healing is critical for producing a healthy granulating wound which is the basis for performing reconstructive surgery. This lecture will use case examples to highlight tips and tricks for performing successful management of traumatic wounds and wound reconstruction.
At the end of the lecture the delegate should:
- Recognise the critical stages of skin wound healing with regards to performing wound closure and reconstruction
- Have learnt practical tips for traumatic wound management and wound reconstruction successfully.
