This presentation will provide a practical, step-by-step guide to investigating the anaemic dog and cat, and will explore regional differences that may inform your diagnosis, especially with respect to the infectious and parasitic diseases that cause anaemia.
- To recognise and interpret clinical signs that provide clues about the cause(s) of anaemia,
- To identify regenerative and non-regenerative anaemia by microscopic evaluation of a blood smear,
- To choose appropriate testing methods to further evaluate the causes of blood loss and haemolysis,
- To recognise the diagnostic steps needed to evaluate a case of non-regenerative anaemia,
- To understand key diagnostic differences for anaemia between dogs and cats
