Prof. Almendros graduated from the University of Murcia, Spain in 2000, he then practiced in several countries including Portugal, Italy, Spain, and the UK as well as in some charity projects in India and Thailand. He moved then to Hong Kong where he has been working since 2011. Prof. Almendros has been board certified in canine and feline practice since 2018, holding a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). He also holds a PGCertSc and a Masters degree in companion animal medicine from Massey University, New Zealand. He is an Associate Professor at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences of City University of Hong Kong and works in primary care and referral practice at its teaching hospital, CityU Veterinary Medical Centre, as a Clinical Specialist in canine and feline practice. He is an experienced educator and publishes regularly in scientific journals.
