Dr Tutt qualified as a veterinarian in South Africa and went on to become a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Dental College. He lives in Cape Town and is registered as a veterinary dental specialist in Europe, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa. He travels abroad to teach veterinarians and treat animals. His aim is to relieve pain and discomfort of oral origin in animals and has treated more than 77 species. He was senior co-author of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Dentistry 3rd Edition and Small Animal Dentistry – a Manual of techniques.
