Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) is an international charity which champions animal welfare around the world, creating sustainable change. The charity acts as a central veterinary resource offering free care to animal charities and non-profit organisations around the world. WVS sends vets where they are needed most, provides expert veterinary training in hard-to-reach places, and ships urgent aid supplies worldwide, every day of the year. During 2023, WVS treated over 70,000 animals, trained over 3,000 veterinary professionals, and shipped more than 800 medical aid parcels. WVS runs its own projects, from neutering campaigns in Malawi to equine clinics in India, and trains local and international vets at its centres in India, Africa, Thailand, and the Galápagos Islands.
In 2013, WVS launched the Mission Rabies project with the aim to eliminate canine-mediated human rabies deaths. Following World Health Organization guidelines, Mission Rabies runs mass canine vaccination and community education in the world’s worst hotspots for the disease. Since the project began, over four million dogs have been vaccinated against rabies and over eight million children have been educated in rabies prevention, protecting the lives of people and animals.
